Davis County

If you were to ask me, I would tell you I'm from Davis county. We currently reside in Davis county. And I like it here. It's safe and comfortable.

BUT...

For the first 2+ years of our marriage we lived in "Salt Lake". Today, after an unexpected late night run to SLC for a last minute gift for Shawn, I can only say one thing:

I miss "Salt Lake"

a couple of things

I stayed home from work today because Carter is sick. He started coughing at 4:30am...and wouldn't stop crying/sleep unless I was holding him. We took him to the doctor. He has Croup.  :(  Poor little guy.

I'm trying to get together addresses for Christmas cards. I feel like I'm failing. I have most of the addresses I need/can think of, but there are a few I don't know. And I don't know who to send them to. Do people really want a card of my wee little family? If you want one (and you haven't contacted me already) please find a way to let me know. I love sharing the joy of a snail mail card :)

All of our Christmas shopping is done...except I haven't gotten anything for Shawn. I cannot figure out what I want to give him this year. Usually I have a list a mile long and I have to spend time finding a way to get the most for my money. He's sent me 3 different lists this year and nothing is standing out. If I'm not careful he really will get a lump of coal because nothing else will get here in time!

Did I mention that I'm tired? Cuz I am. I'm off to take a nap while Carter is sleeping.

five (5)

My baby is five (5) months old. What?!? When did that happen?? Life is moving at an alarming pace, so here's a "little c" update:

*Something clicked last Saturday and Carter can now sit up on his own...for like 30 seconds. He's tipsy, but it's incredible.

*Carter is a happy baby. He smiles so often, even if he's been crying or is mad he'll smile. Big light up his whole face kind of smiles...that I struggle to get on camera. sigh.

*Carter is ticklish on his ribs and inner thighs. Oh how we love making him laugh. [so much that I think we'd spend all day trying]

*We give him a bath every night. He kicks and splashes and tries to lick the water off his face. oh and pees in the tub. every. single. time.

*Carter always smiles at that cute baby in the mirror. [Especially right after bathtime--so adorable all bundled in his hoodie towel]

*Carter is fascinated with lights. He has always stared at them...but the Christmas tree has introduced a whole new fixation. It's magnetic-if the tree is on, Carter is looking at it.

*Recently Carter moves his right arm in a circular motion with his hand in a fist, it looks like he is...cheering on a sports team? [I'm struggling to verbalize the action. Like you're at a game yelling "Woo Woo Woo" in an effort to pump up the team your cheering for] Because his motor control isn't great, it is so cute and maybe a tad bit funny ;)

*Carter sucks his thumb. He refuses to take a binky. When I give him a binky he takes it out and then chews on it like its another one of his toys.

The kid is a champ, we love him so much. I could keep going all day long, but I'll stop. Happy Wednesday--It snowed!!

Dear Momma - Where art thou?

Hi all you blog readers - Shawn and Carter here.

Mel/Momma has a problem.

An addiction really.

She can't put a book down once she's picked it up.

Even if its horrible.

Carter and I spent the night here in office alone - while Mel got her fix.

My Yesterday

I did a whole variety of things yesterday...

But this was definitely the cutest part of my day:

Seriously the joy of my heart. His smile is irresistable.


[on another note: I officially decided I'm not creative, even though I long to be. Some people have it. I do not. sigh.]

Confession:
I have been craving a big mac for days.

I finally caved and got one today for lunch. Totally satisfied. :)
