Time

So I distinctly remember thinking the end of March-Wow! I only have 3 months left! April, May, and June, and then the baby will be here!! In my head I planned out all the checkpoints I had Before my Due Date...you know everything that would be happening. It went something like this:

April:
-Start Lamaze Class once a week. (Those 6 weeks of class flew by! As did the month of April)

May:
-Shawn finishes another semester of School (Hooray! We made it through one more)

-Shawn gets his tonsils out (What an eye opening experience that was for me...It about killed me seeing him in the recovery room, and I felt so helpless in taking care of him, and I may have misunderstood the Doctor's instructions and not filled on of his pain medications so Shawn was in more pain than necessary the first few days...yeah that'll make you feel like a horrible wife.)

-My Birthday! (What an interesting day it turned out to be...I took the day off work so I could sleep in, but then Shawn scheduled Mark to come work on our banister at 9am so I was up and then due to a huge accident Mark didn't get to our house til 11am and I could have slept in! Shawn and Mark spent pretty much all day putting that banister in, boy does it look pretty, you should come by and see it--totally completes our home. I lounged at home, and read outside, just enjoying the weather. Shawn gave me a new camera for my birthday. Its beautiful and amazing and I love it. It's small and sleek and a huge improvement over our old cameras. Pretty much I'm in love. I just don't dare try to figure out how to use it with the computer hahaha...so no pictures just yet. Sorry folks! Shawn took me out to a nice place for dinner up on 9th and 9th in Salt Lake. I can't remember the name of the place. Shawn and I actually ended up liking the other person's entree better than our own, so we swapped. After dinner I wasn't feeling well so we drove home in the pouring rain and the night ended early. Saturday Shawn invited people over for my birthday, and to be honest I didn't think anyone would actually come, but they did! It was fun to chat with old friends. And I was so proud of our house--how silly am I?)

-Memorial Day (Hello Summer and BBQ's! It was a nice day :))

June:
-Brock Family Shower (It was really fun, 3 of us "shared" the shower, two Brides and a Baby. I was given so many wonderful things!)

-Bryson Family/Friend Shower (Props to my Sister to putting this together. She has been so helpful to me this whole pregnancy...I'm so appreciative, even if I haven't said much. It was great to see family, old ward members (you know all those 2nd Mom's you made in your lifetime), and old & new friends. I had a wonderful time)

[Side note: Just a special thanks to Shawn and my co-workers...my work threw me a shower and Shawn's co-workers threw him a shower. Neither of which I was expecting, but was so grateful for!]

-Cheryl & Kyle's Wedding! (This was the big one. It was this past weekend...and I was to be 39 weeks pregnant and when the whole thing was planned, no one (including myself) knew if I'd still be around, or if the baby would be here. It was kind of my goal, I just kept telling myself "Make it through Cheryl's wedding and then you can have the baby" or "You just have to make it through the ceremony and then the baby can come" Well. I made it. I survived all the festivities. It was really beautiful and I'm glad I was able to go...even if I look like a whale in all of the wedding pictures. Give the pregnant lady a break!)

Everyone in the family thought the stress of the wedding would put me into labor, but I'm still here, and he's still kicking. All it did was wear me out enough that I got a terrible head cold (I've been fighting it for a week now, but it hit full on yesterday!) I'm absolutely miserable. I do not recommend being 39+ weeks pregnant and being sick with a cold. It makes sleeping even harder...which everyone tells me is a commodity I will soon be loosing.

And now this brings us to July...My official "Due Date" is July 2. This baby could come any time. Not knowing when exactly is hard. I feel paranoid. Like any little thing could be labor, and then its not. I'm trying to mentally prepare myself with the idea that the baby could come late, but I'm struggling. I'm trying to enjoy the now. I really am...but I really would like this baby to come. Everytime Shawn sees me he asks "Junior" if he's ready to come out yet. I guess not, cuz he's still in there, waiting to make his appearance. We both can't wait to meet him, but we get to wait for now.

I'll try to keep the blog updated. Life has just felt really busy--and put getting ready for a baby on top of all that and wow. Time moves fast. I can't believe the 9 months are up...Ready or not here we come!

Dear Blog

Dear Blog,
I have not forgotten about you. In fact, I think about you often. I imagine all the things I would write and the pictures I would post...but then when I sit down to "blog" I don't feel like it, or I don't know what to say, or I don't want to upload my pictures. I am definitely lazy. Yes Sir.

In other news...
Life is good. Less then three weeks left until the "Due Date". I don't feel ready. I turned 25 last month...yeah meant to blog about that one. Oh boy have I been slacking. Maybe blogging isn't for me, and I've just been pretending this last little while. My name is Melissa, and I am in a blogging slump and I need help--suggestions?

Please get back to me soon,
Melissa

Today. Today was one of those days. One of those no good horrible bad day kind of days. It started off wrong and just kept getting worse--despite my best efforts to stay positive. You know persevere. It just wasn't working for me. Honestly it was like anything I touched went bad. SO many bad things happened I can't even remember them all. And I'm not in the mood to reflect back on all of it, but wow. I just had to document this day. Not even kidding this is going down in the record books. Thank goodness this day is coming to a close. I sincerely hope everyone has a great day tomorrow! I don't think I can make it through another today.

(sorry if this sounds so morbid...nothing seriously bad happened so don't worry on that front...just all day something went wrong with every. single. thing. I did. Talk about exhausting!)

Prepping for the kid

Lately it feels like all we've been doing is readying the house for the baby. It FINALLY feels like we're getting somewhere. Last weekend we finished painting the baby's room.
Tadaa!! I love it. The picture doesn't really give it justice, 1. cuz it's an iPhone photo (seems to be all I take these days, if I take any at all) and 2. cuz we put so much work into it--with the color, and I made Shawn install the chair rail (which looks amazing and totally brought the whole thing together). Then this weekend we were able to replace the old fan in the room. So it went from this:

To This:
Hooray!! I love it. (I HATED that multicolor fan. It was Absolutely hideous!) The new fan/light looks so good in the room. Now all we need is the furniture and we're on our way. Which we ordered yesterday...and I have the most satisfying story in regards to that. :) I had a coupon at the store where we wanted to buy the crib & dresser that would save us approximately $100.00. While I was checking out one of the workers at the store said, oh that crib is on sale and she still let me use my coupon on the whole purchase. So I ended up saving $200.00!! It was so awesome. I was ecstatic. Cribs/baby furniture is so expensive (seriously start saving now)...It was such a blessing to be able to save that much money. Now we just have to wait for it to come in. (I wish it were here already)

Everything is moving right along. And no, still can't believe we're going to be having a kid... The time has just flown by. I'm only guessing the next 2 months are going to go even quicker. Wish us luck!

The Next Guy In Line...

Am I the only one who has ever seen those videos where cops have to get sprayed in the face with Mace before they are allowed to use it in the field?

Anyways if you haven't ever seen it - it usually goes something like this.

In the beginning there's about 10 guys in a line. All in uniform. And then the sprayer (smartest guy in the area if you ask me.) They stand there waiting... like idiots... with their arms behind their backs and heads forward as if they're looking forward to the their turn.

The first guy gets sprayed and you watch a grown uniformed man crumple to the ground like a rag doll bawling and begging for relief while the other nine stare on at attention.

It's finals week. I feel like the next guy in line. :-)

Have a great week everyone!

Well Hello!

As a house warming gift last fall, my mom bought me tulip bulbs and helped me plant them in the flowerbed right in front of our house. I had no idea what else would be growing in that flowerbed, but it turned out all right. It has been so exciting to watch these little flowers bloom. They're absolutely gorgeous! [and I have to admit...I thought the tulips were a strange house warming gift...but now I love how they make our house, our yard, feel like home.] Every time I looke at them I can't help but think-"Those are my flowers! That I planted! and they're Beautiful!!" So, thanks Mom for a little bit of "home" insight :) Hooray for flowers and Spring!
